This is Bangladesh, home to about 150 million people. Here, in one of the poorest and most densely populated nations in the world, 30 million people suffer from severe hunger each year. And, most of them depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

This video shows how farmers in northwestern Bangladesh are using flood-tolerant rice varieties to cope with many floods that afflict this part of the country.

Although rice is highly nutritious, a lot of the quality is lost during processing. This results in poor quality rice on the market. So consumers turn to imported rice.
