In the land of Gayo, where coffee is a currency, it used to be only men that could become coffee farmers. But that is no longer the case. More and more women take the center stage in coffee farming, roasting and business by forming into cooperatives to represent their voices. Through Fairtrade premium they are able to learn and improve their cultivation skills, attend capacity building training to further grow their business with confidence and generate additional source of income as well.
